Photographs:

A single photograph can undergo
one or all of the procedures below:

  1. Scan = Archive - digitize and label file
  2. Embellish = borders or text etc
  3. Edit   =change Reality
  4. Restoration = repair cracks, remove mold, develop depth of field   and contrast, find lost details etc.  There are 5 degrees of restoration;         See the possibilities in the "Before-and-After" photographs at the bottom of this page.

1. Scan

Do you want digital copies that you can easily pull from your computer and send to family or make an album of them?   Just enter the initials of your child or parent and presto-so many images pop up, all in chronological order!

You want reprints?
Enlargements from old photographs make tiny details visible.

Perhaps you want a whole new album of  "the olden days"  for you and your siblings.... or a gift to family members.  Done.

Your photos can be individually scanned even if they are glued on album pages. No need to destroy the album or the photograph trying to pull your photographs off their page if they are stuck like the ones below.   We scan it, as is, in tact.

Archive

For permanent record-keeping  Key Words  in the title are essential - names, dates, places, relationship etc    And highlighting the "high-value" image files is worthwhile for easy recognition later on.

Restore Photos

Old photos are often damaged, scratched,  faded, creased, or missing a corner.
We can make old photos look new pixel by pixel.
Some restoration is as easy as the click of a button for color correction
or as easy as cleaning a slide before scanning
and some restoration takes hours for a single photograph.

To help give you an idea of what can be done and how long it takes,
this page is dedicated to giving samples of the various approximate categories.
    1. Quick and Easy Restoration (5-15 minutes)
    2. Basic Remedy Restoration  (20-40 minutes)
    3. Beyond Basic Restoration   (1 hour )
    4. Major  Restoration   (2-3 hours)
    5. Nearly Impossible Restoration (4-8 hours)

The Nearly Impossible Restoration

(Reconstruction really)   4-8 hours

The father below died
a few years after the photo was taken in 1933
so it is one of the very few and precious photographs of him.
~The boy, Eugene, has now celebrated his 80th birthday.

From Small Images to Extremely  Large Images

i.e.  3" x 5"   to   16" x 20"

The   3"x5" photograph below was too grainy  to print as a 5" x 7 "
but after scanning at high resolution,
we repaired the microscopic limitations
so that it could be printed as  16" x 20"  a centerpiece for the wall.
